If you join the RAF, you will get all the certificates granted by the JAA. To transfer to civilian airlines, just gather enough hours, and apply to an airline. They will train you on the specific plane they want you to fly.
Cheers!

Thats an interesting transition. Um, I would definitely try contacting an airline companies employment office. I’m sure they would love to have someone who flew jets.

Joining the Air Force would get you the best training and a very good start to your career as an airline pilot.
My brother is an airline pilot and this is how he started out.
Best of luck to you in a great career!

Many people have made the transition. In the faster jets the controls are much different. The larger jets are usually equipped with an auto pilot which can do as much as land the plane. Being an airline pilot is a surprisingly easy job being it not for all of the strikes and unions.

Sorry I know this is not what you want to hear, but unfortunately your vision problems will eliminate you from ever becoming a pilot, be it military or civil. The requirements for both are VERY strict, and you wouldn’t pass them. Sorry.
