How can a band starting out become a famous rock band?
AirfaresRoomOnFire95 asked:
Being in a rock band is my dream. I’m 12 years old and residing in Las Vegas. Just wondering how can I get started in this industry? If I already have a band how can I get gigs? How can I get a record deal? Please help me!
By the way, I can play sweet child o mine, war pigs, stairway to heaven and other classic rock songs. CLASSIC ROCK SONGS ARE AWESOME. My voice sounds like Cobain’s and I can already do Classical Gas by Mason WIlliams (vid in utube)

If you’re starting a band, make sure you do so for the right reasons. If you just want to be famous, have all the riches and girls and become a “rock star” then get ready to kiss corporate asses. If it’s about the music and your passion to it, then hone your skills first and know your instruments before forming a band, or else you’ll just become another “band” with no real skills just like most of the “bands” today.

Well, firstly, write great songs and greatness will come to you.or at least, you’ll realise your dream and make it big. writing good songs is the first step to become anything. it will help you gain fans that will not desert you in like 3 years and will ensure staying power in the industry. play gigs at the right places.you can play at your school events, for getting community support is a big deal. if it takes a long time, so be it. you’ve got to have passion and believe in your music.also, be good to your fans, for they are the ones who are supporting you.

I’m not a musician, but I think at 12 you should probably still be practicing and working on your craft and style as musician. You are very young and have some good time ahead you to make sure you have an established sound with a band that’s commited to making the big scene.
At the same time, a lot of kids your age probably aren’t totally positive as to what they want to do when they become adults, and even as they get older they might be prone to change their minds. It’s typical of being 12 years old.
I would say take this time to work on your craft and find bandmates that are looking to have fun and learn their style as well. Get yourself into a situation with friends to where you can learn and have fun with your music. That to me is the first step to getting into the music industry, making sure you enjoy what you do, but are commited to getting better at it so that you have a good showcase for another band or a record label down the road.
It’s not all that uncommon for people in bands today to say that they started out in cover bands, or that they in a few different bands growing up before they joined their current band that got signed.
I think it’s good that you ask questions about getting started signed in the music industry and how to get gigs. But it seems to me that you should be concerned with making sure that your music and commitment from yourself and those you play with is strong enough to get you there first.
You are young, you have a good time to work on yourself as a musician. That’s probably the most important thing you can do for yourself now well before you can start thinking about even a small record deal.
